Building A Scription List
INTRODUCTION
When you write a blog one thing you will want to do is let your readers know when you have written a new article. You do this by sending them a newsletter on a regular basis (but not too much) that lets them know the latest articles you have written and how to access them.
T=You want to do this so that you build a loyal following of readers who return to your site often and who enjoy your blog. This increases your visitor numbers which help to grow your online blogging business.
Other reasons for building a list is that you may want to reach out to them at a later stage with products that you wish to sell, things like eBooks or maybe some other product or service that you provide.
This course is concerned with the mechanics of allowing readers to subscribe to your list. In the full course, we will deal with methods and tactics that will help you to grow the number of subscribers.
THE BASIC PROCESS
To grow a list you need a way of collecting names and contact details such as emails in an ordered and structured way that will also allow you to use that list to send emails to efficiently. You do this using an online provider that can be linked to your blog site. There are many online providers and as you can imagine they have a plethora of offers that can make your head spin.
Some are large and expensive and designed for the really big companies but there are a number of others that are perfect for the blogger. Some of these include:
moosend – * my personal favourite,
MailChimp – they are the biggest, they have a very reasonable free plan (2,000 contacts and 10,000 email sends and an impressive array of included features) and when you are ready to grow they have the most affordable paid plans for the average blogger. The $9.99 plan includes 50,000 contacts and 500,000 email sends. Enough for most bloggers. A big turn off for me was that they only allow one list (audience) until you get to the upper tiers. I have been a database manager in another life and this spells problems for me.
Send In Blue – they have a reasonable free option that includes 300 emails a day, unlimited contacts and when you grow they have a number of plans to suit. They have also incorporated Chat, a CRM (Customer Relationship Manager), SMS and many other features.
The one I will be describing here is from MailChimp however, the basic process will not be any different to the one I describe here.
* Note that I do NOT receive any remuneration for making this recommendation. I make it because I believe it.
* my personal favourite,
The basic process looks like this.
