COURSE n – WRITE YOUR PLAN
INTRODUCTION
In this course we are going to complete the marketing plan template provided in the previous course. This will be your blueprint.
It will define:
- What you write about,
- How often you write,
- The style that you write in,
- The type of posts you write,
- the look and feel of your post,
- The look and feel of your blog site,
- The marketing channels you will use to promote each post,
- Manage your budgets,
- Manage your time.
In short, it will make the process of creating a successful blog site (business) easy and efficient, and hopefully enjoyable.
IDENTIFY THE TRAFFIC SOURCES TO TARGET
TASK
Get a pen and paper or open something like Word or Excel to begin creating your traffic source list. This is the list you will use to promote your posts.
Once you have refined your list you will add it to your marketing plan.
Remember our broad strategy when beginning a blog is to ignore the first page of the Google SERP. We need o go around Google to begin with until we have built the authority to rank on Google.
In marketing, we do this by knowing who our target audience is and targeting those sources in order to drive traffic. Once traffic starts arriving at our site Google will take notice.
In the previous course, we talked about knowing who your target audience is. This is where we put that knowledge into practice. The more we know the better we get.
Fishing where the fish are.
Targeting traffic sources means understanding your target audience for your niche and concentrating on those sources to drive traffic to your posts and site.
Identifying sources
Instagram boards
Open Google
search for broad keywords that relate to your niche – we want informational content and avoid from informational websites and not your competition
ASSESS THE AVAILABLE CHANNELS
TASK
In your marketing plan go to the channels section. Here we will be creating the beginning weights that will help us allocate our available time efficiently.
During this stage of developing your marketing plan you will be assessing each online channel and giving it a weighting. The weighs indicate how important you think each of the channels are to the success of your blog site.
This will be a fluid set of weights because over time you will learn which channels work best for you and will adjust those weights dependent on the amount of success you have with each one.
